In all the world so wide and vast
And all my journeys now long past
Of all the sights that I have seen
Never was there such a scene
As the beaches of Evangeline.
As I walked along the edge
Of that shifting, sunlit wedge
The velvet dunes and water's sheen
Sparkled bright and I could glean
The splendor of Evangeline
As I stood transfixed upon the ledge
Truly now I can allege
That my heart did thus careen
In to the depths of the saline
While I gazed unto Evangeline.
Would that I could be the surf that slips along
the smooth and soothing sand of that sinuous shore
And if this tide should roll away from me
Forever more a shadow shall I be
Such a vista could never be unseen
The undulating hues of blue and green
That is the beauty of Evangeline
